The Shipwreck Beach — One of the most iconic and photographed beaches on the planet
Navagio Beach, also known as Shipwreck Beach or Smuggler's Cove, is an exposed cove on the coast of Zakynthos in the Ionian Islands of Greece. It is often cited as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and is the most photographed location in all of Greece.
The beach is famous for the MV Panagiotis, a freightliner that ran aground on the beach in 1980, allegedly while transporting contraband cigarettes. The rusting shipwreck now sits half-buried in the white sand, surrounded by soaring 200-meter limestone cliffs and surrounded by the most intensely turquoise water you'll ever see.
Accessible only by boat from the port of Porto Vromi or Zakynthos Town, the journey to Navagio is itself an unforgettable experience, with stunning coastal scenery and sea caves along the way. The beach can also be viewed from the dramatic clifftop viewing platform above.
Swim in the incredibly clear turquoise waters — visibility often exceeds 30 meters.
Capture the iconic shipwreck against white cliffs. Visit the viewing platform for aerial perspectives.
Enjoy scenic boat trips with stops at the Blue Caves and other hidden coves along the coast.
The cliffs above Navagio are a world-famous BASE jumping spot for experienced jumpers.
